How many packs in a booster box?
Thirty-six, for every current English main set. The official name is "booster display": a sealed box of 36 packs from one expansion with nothing else inside. An Enhanced Booster Display, used for the first Mega Evolution set, adds a promo card. You will also see half booster boxes of 18 packs, which are sold mainly in Europe.
Japanese booster boxes are built differently: typically 30 packs of five cards, so they are not directly comparable with English boxes. Our guide to Japanese vs English Pokémon cards explains the other differences. Browse Pokémon booster boxes in stock.
How many packs in an Elite Trainer Box?
Nine in a standard Mega Evolution-era Elite Trainer Box. Alongside the packs you get a full-art promo card that is not in the booster packs, 65 sleeves, Energy cards, six damage-counter dice, a coin-flip die, condition markers, dividers, a player's guide and the box itself. The Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, sold through Pokémon Center, has eleven packs and two promos, one with a Pokémon Center stamp.
Pack counts have varied in the past (some older ETBs had eight or ten), so check the listing for older sets. See our Elite Trainer Boxes.
How many packs in a booster bundle?
Six. A booster bundle is a small box of six packs with no promo or accessories. At £24.99 RRP it is the cheapest way to buy packs in quantity without committing to a full box, and for special sets with no booster box, such as Ascended Heroes and 30th Celebration, it is often the main way to buy packs at all. See booster bundles.
How many packs in a tin, blister or collection box?
- Mini tins: two packs, an art card and a sticker sheet. Designs come in themed waves and are often sold at random.
- Standard tins: four packs and a foil promo. Browse Pokémon tins.
- 3-pack blisters: three packs and a foil promo, a good small gift.
- Collection boxes: anything from four packs (ex boxes) to eighteen or more in an Ultra-Premium Collection. The count is always printed on the box. See collection boxes.
How many cards in a Pokémon pack?
A standard English pack contains ten game cards: four commons, three uncommons, two reverse holos and one holo rare or better. It also contains a Basic Energy and a code card for Pokémon TCG Live. Special sets can differ; 30th Celebration packs, for example, contain five foil cards and a foil Energy. Our guide to holo vs reverse holo cards explains the slots.
Why do shops charge more than RRP?
RRP is the price the distributor recommends at launch. Shops are allocated a limited amount of each product. When demand outstrips that allocation, as it has for most popular Pokémon sets since 2020, the market price rises, and older sets that have left print usually trade above their original price. Newer sets and quieter products often sell at or below RRP. A price comparison site is worth checking before you buy anything large.
The value maths is simple: divide the price by the number of packs. A booster box nearly always wins per pack; an Elite Trainer Box costs more per pack but includes a promo and accessories. Is a booster box cheaper per pack than an ETB?
Almost always. A booster box gives you four times the packs of an ETB, and on the same set it usually works out cheaper per pack. The ETB costs more per pack because you are also paying for the promo card, sleeves, dice and storage box.
