The Elite Trainer Box is Pokémon's all-in-one product and the single most popular sealed item the game produces. Each ETB pairs booster packs from the set with the accessories you need to actually play, inside a storage box carrying the set mascot's artwork.
Every main Pokémon expansion gets at least one Elite Trainer Box, and the larger sets often get two with different mascot artwork. Once a set rotates out of distribution the ETBs are usually the first sealed product to become hard to find at retail price.
Choosing between them
An ETB is the natural gift purchase in the Pokémon range — it gives someone new to the game everything they need in one wrapper, and the box itself remains useful long after the packs are opened. Per pack it costs more than a booster box, which is the trade-off for the accessories and the exclusive promo.
