Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box vs standard ETB: what is actually different?
A Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box has two more booster packs than a standard ETB — 11 instead of 9 — and comes with two copies of the box's promo card, one stamped with the Pokémon Center logo. Everything else in the box is the same. New, they are sold only through the Pokémon Center; at Iconic Trading Cards the gap on a current set such as Pitch Black is around £10, but on older, sought-after sets it can be hundreds of pounds.
Key facts
- Pokémon Center ETB: 11 booster packs; standard ETB: 9
- Pokémon Center ETB: two copies of the promo, one with a Pokémon Center stamp
- Same accessories in both: 65 sleeves, 45 Energy, damage dice, coin-flip die, condition markers, player's guide, storage box, TCG Live code
- Sold new only through the Pokémon Center, which has a UK online store
- Recent US launch prices: $59.99 Pokémon Center vs $49.99 standard
- At Iconic on 8 October 2026: Pitch Black £90 vs £80; Ascended Heroes £420 vs £165
What is in each box?
Using Pitch Black as the example, which Pokémon showcased in full:
| Standard Elite Trainer Box | Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box | |
|---|---|---|
| Booster packs | 9 | 11 |
| Promo card | 1 full-art promo | 2 copies of the promo, 1 stamped with the Pokémon Center logo |
| Card sleeves | 65 | 65 |
| Energy cards | 45 | 45 |
| Dice, coin-flip die, condition markers | Yes | Yes |
| Player's guide, storage box with dividers | Yes | Yes |
| Pokémon TCG Live code | Yes | Yes |
For Pitch Black the promo is Zarude; for Mega Evolution it was Riolu or Alakazam; for Black Bolt and White Flare, Thundurus and Tornadus. The upcoming Delta Reign Pokémon Center ETB follows the same pattern with two copies of its full-art Kyogre promo.
Where are Pokémon Center ETBs sold?
Pokémon's own UK site says Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes can only be found at the Pokémon Center. In the UK that means the Pokémon Center online store, which lists them for recent sets alongside the standard boxes. Popular ones sell out quickly and are often limited to two per customer.
After that, they reach shops like ours and the wider secondary market, which is why their price can drift a long way from launch. We name them clearly on our site — look for "Pokémon Center" or "Pokémon Centre Edition" in the product name — and keep both versions in our Elite Trainer Boxes collection.
How big is the price gap?
It depends on how old and how wanted the set is. At launch in the US, recent Pokémon Center ETBs such as Black Bolt, Ascended Heroes and Chaos Rising were $59.99 against $49.99 — ten dollars for two extra packs and a second promo. In the UK, here is what we listed on 8 October 2026:
| Set | Standard ETB | Pokémon Center ETB |
|---|---|---|
| Pitch Black | £80 | £90 |
| Chaos Rising | £80 | £90 |
| Perfect Order | £80 | £90 |
| Phantasmal Flames | £120 | £220 |
| Ascended Heroes | £165 | £420 |
| Prismatic Evolutions | £175 | £400 |
For the three newest main sets, the Pokémon Center box costs £10 more for two extra packs — good value, since a single Pitch Black booster pack is £7 with us. For the big special sets, the Pokémon Center version has become a collector's item, and the premium reflects that scarcity rather than two packs.
Want the newest one? The Pitch Black Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box was in stock at £90.00 when we checked, alongside the standard Pitch Black ETB at £80.00.
Do Pokémon Center ETBs have better pulls?
No. The packs inside are ordinary booster packs from the same set, so each one has the same chance of a hit as any other pack. You get two more chances, not better ones. Pokémon does not publish pull rates for English sets, and you should be wary of anyone claiming that a particular box type, batch or retailer pulls better. The only guaranteed differences are the pack count and the promos.
That also means the extra packs are worth exactly what a pack of that set is worth to you. If you only want one chase card from the set, buying the single is still cheaper than either box — our Mega Evolution chase cards guide lists the big ones with prices.
Which should you buy?
- To open, on a current set: the Pokémon Center ETB, if the gap is about £10. Two packs for that money is cheaper per pack than the standard box.
- As a gift: either works. The standard box is easier to find and the contents a new player uses are identical.
- To keep sealed: the Pokémon Center version tends to be the scarcer of the two, but we would never promise any sealed product will rise in value.
- For the lowest cost per pack overall: neither. A booster box is usually cheaper per pack; our ETB vs booster bundle vs booster box guide does the maths.
What about Delta Reign?
Delta Reign releases on 6 November 2026 with both versions announced: a standard ETB with nine packs and a full-art Kyogre promo, and a Pokémon Center ETB with eleven packs and two Kyogre promos, one stamped. We list the standard Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box for pre-order at £64.00; everything else for the set is on our Delta Reign pre-order page. Pre-orders from Iconic Trading Cards are dispatched on or around release day, and UK delivery on sealed product is £3.95.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Pokémon Center ETB and a normal ETB?
A Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box has 11 booster packs instead of 9, and two copies of the box's promo card, one of them stamped with the Pokémon Center logo. The sleeves, Energy, dice, markers, player's guide and storage box are the same as the standard version.
Where can you buy Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes in the UK?
New, they are sold only through the Pokémon Center, which has a UK online store. Pokémon describes them as exclusive to the Pokémon Center. After release, they are resold by shops like ours and on the secondary market, usually at a premium once the Pokémon Center sells out.
Is a Pokémon Center ETB worth it?
On a current set, usually yes: two extra packs and an extra promo for a modest price difference is good value per pack. Once a box is only available second-hand, the gap can grow far beyond the value of two packs, and then it is mostly worth it for collectors who want the stamped promo or the box itself.
How much does a Pokémon Center ETB cost?
In the US, recent Pokémon Center ETBs such as Black Bolt, Ascended Heroes and Chaos Rising launched at $59.99, against $49.99 for the standard ETB. In the UK, prices after launch vary by set and demand: on 8 October 2026 we listed the Pitch Black Pokémon Center ETB at £90 against £80 for the standard one.
Is the Pokémon Center stamp on the promo valuable?
It makes that copy of the promo exclusive to the Pokémon Center box, which collectors like. Whether it is worth much on its own depends on the card and the set; for most boxes the main value is still in the packs.
